The Cougars Open Up Their Spring 2020 Campaign in Tucson

Washington State’s men’s golf team will compete in the Arizona Intercollegiate this Monday and Tuesday.

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State men's golf begins a busy spring season with a trip down to Tucson, Arizona for the Arizona Intercollegiate.  The tournament, which is hosted by the University of Arizona, runs from Monday to Tuesday, Jan. 27-28, at the Sewailo Golf Club.
 
THE FIELD – In addition to Washington State and host Arizona, this 13-team tournament will feature Baylor, Iowa State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, St Mary's, ULM, UTEP, UTSA, and instate rival Washington.
 
THE LINEUP – Representing the Cougars this week are seniors Nicklaus Chiam and Daniel Kolar, and freshman Christian Yanagi, Tianyu Wu, and Yuya Eguchi.
 
LAST TIME ON THE COURSE – The last time the Cougars were in competition came on Oct. 21 in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Nicklaus Chiam paced WSU by carding a four-under-par, 68, in his final round to place finished 15th overall. As a team, the Cougars finished 13th.
 
SPRING 2020 PREVIEW – The Cougars also find themselves competing in four other tournaments prior to the Pac-12 Championships on April 27. On Feb. 21, the team will head to Lihue, Hawaii, for the John Burns Intercollegiate. Following that, they will then head to Brandon, Ore, for the Brandon Dunes Championship March 8 for the first of two March Tournaments. Closing out the month, the Cougs will be The Goodwin in Stanford, Calif., on March 26. Finally, The Cougars will head to Iowa City, Iowa, April 18 for their final warm-up before for the Pac-12 Championship, at the Hawkeye Invitational.
 
COACHES – Dustin White continues to lead the Cougars in his fourth season as the head coach, after spending four years on the Cougar golf team from 1999-2003. Kevin Tucker returns for his second year as an assistant coach after playing for the Cougars from 2006-10.
