Nampa, Idaho – The Washington State University Track and Field program saw split squad action Saturday, as the Cougars traveled to both the Bronco Invite, hosted by Boise State, and to the UW Indoor Preview hosted by the University of Washington.Â
Kreete Verlin posted a first place finish for the WSU women in the long jump as she recorded a jump of 20-feet 9-inches (6.32m). Verlin's mark is the fourth best all-time in Washington State women's track and field history as well.
Anna Rodgers also went on to finish second overall in the long jump, and
Lauren Newman would go on to finish third.
Charisma Taylor provided an additional top-ten Washington State mark, as she won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27, which is now third best all-time in Washington State history.
Chrisshnay Brown posted a second place overall finish today in the shot put, with a throw of 53-feet 1 1/2 inches (16.19m), and
Jordyn Tucker went on to finish third overall in the 60m dash with a time of 7.73 as well.
Leonie Reuter went on to post a second place finish as well in the high jump with a mark of 5-feet 10 1/2 inches (1.79m).Â
The first victory of the day for the Cougar men came from
Mitch Jacobson in the high jump as he posted a mark of 6-feet 8 3/4 inches (2.05m). Washington State placed second, third and fourth in the high jump as well, with
Beau Sheeran,
Max English, and
Taino Ferdinand posting solid all around marks for the Cougs.
Jacob Englar recorded yet another win for WSU, as he placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 16-feet 8 3/4 inches (5.10m).
Emmanuel "RayRay" Wells Jr. took home two top spots on the day, winning both the 60-meter dash (6.72), and the 200-meter (21.38).
Sam Brixey had himself a day as well with two total wins, first in the 60m hurdles (7.76) where he posted the fourth best all-time Washington State mark, and he won the long jump with a mark of 22-feet 8 1/2 inches (6.92m).
Dillon Lionello posted yet another WSU win, this time in the shot put where he recorded a throw of 49-feet 10 inches (15.19m).
Colton Johnsen led the distance squad at the UW Indoor Preview Saturday afternoon, as Johnsen went on to win the 3000-meter race with a PR of 8:00.71.Â
