Eleven Cougars Named CRCA 2019 Scholar-Athletes

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Eleven members of the Washington State University women's rowing team were named 2019 National Scholar-Athletes by the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), the organization announced.

Seniors Paige Danielson, Sara Brevick, Linnea Davison, Taija Thompson and Hannah Welzbacker, juniors Isabella Cristelli, Ivy Elling Quaintance, Renee Kemp and Kamila Ondrackova and sophomores Emma Barrett and Chloe White were each named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, each having maintained a cumulative 3.5 grade point average or higher throughout their careers. To be eligible, each rowing student-athlete must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility and rowed in a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races in an NCAA boat.

Danielson (St. Cloud, Minn.) concluded her Cougar career with a 4.00 grade point average and received her degree in electrical engineering in May. Thompson (Victoria, British Columbia) graduated with a degree in psychology with a 3.64 GPA. She and Danielson are receiving the honor for the third-straight year. Brevick (Fall City, Wash.), Davison (Aberdeen, Wash.) and Welzbacker (Seaback, Wash.) are all first-time honorees. A human development major, Brevick maintained a 3.52 GPA, while Davison, a psychology major had a 3.64 GPA and communication and society major-Welzbacker had a 3.65 GPA.

Elling Quaintance (Sidney, British Columbia), Kemp (Te Awamutu, New Zealand) and Ondrackova (Prague, Czech Republic) are all second-time honorees. Elling Quaintance is a sport science major with a 3.81 GPA. Kemp is a biology major with a 3.78 GPA and Ondrackova is a sport science major with a 3.69 GPA. Cristelli is a first-time honoree, majoring in economic sciences with a 3.74 GPA. Barrett (Vienna, Va.) and White (North Saanich, British Columbia) are also first-time honorees with GPAs of 3.67 and 3.94, respectively.
