SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Washington State University Track and Field program continued competition at Hornet Stadium during day two of the NCAA West Prelims.Â

Three Cougars ran their way into the quarterfinal round of the 110-meter hurdles, after
Nick Johnson,
Sam Brixey, and
Christapherson Grant each advanced into tomorrow's race. Johnson finished second in his heat at 13.83 to earn himself an automatic qualification. Brixey was an automatic qualifier as well, winning his heat at 13.86, a time that moved Sam into a tie for 10th all-time in WSU history in the event. Grant went on to finish fourth in his heat, but a PR race of 14.03 was enough to see him through to the next round.Â
Zorana Grujic ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase as she placed 27th overall with a time of 10:16.19.
Molly Scharmann and
Katelyn Frost represented WSU in the pole vault, finishing in 34th and 36th respectively. Scharmann turned in a mark of 13-feet 4 1/4 inches (4.07m), while Frost vaulted at 12-feet 10 1/4 inches (3.92m).
Emmanuel Wells Jr. continued to remain busy during day two of the action, competing in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events. Wells finished 22nd overall in the 100m with a time of 10.47, and placed 33rd in the 200m at 21.19 overall.
Kyler Little rounded out the Cougar athletes on the night in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 29th with a time of 8:59.71.

The Cougars will conclude competition at the NCAA West Prelims tomorrow, Saturday, May 25 with nine total opportunities to secure spots in the NCAA Championships at Austin, Texas. WSU will be competing in the women's triple jump, men's high jump, women's shot put, men's 4x100m relay, and men's 110m hurdles.Â
