SILICON VALLEY, Calif. - The Washington State women's golf team completed the first round of the Silverado Showdown co-hosted by Colorado and Oregon. The Cougars carded a 305(+17) to tie for 15th with Colorado State, sitting ahead of New Mexico and San Francisco who put together 309(+21) and 312(+24), respectively. WSU and the rest of the field trail behind San Jose State, whose team carded an overall one-under, 289, going into the clubhouse.
Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Madison Odiorne. Odiorne put together an impressive one-over, 73, through the first round of play to tie for 15th individually. The Bend, Ore. native will look to improve her play going into the second round Monday, April 8.
Behind Odiorne, freshman Amy Chu and junior Marie Lund-Hansen each put together a five-over, 77, through the first day of play. Redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart and freshman Darcy Habgood carded a 78(+6) going into the clubhouse.
Individually, Brooke Riley and Stephanie Lau of Northwestern lead the field, carding a two-under, 70, through the first round of play. The two sit just one stroke ahead of second place.
