THIS WEEK – Washington State men's golf continues the spring season with a trip to coastal Oregon for the Bandon Dunes Championship Sunday through Tuesday, March 10-12 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort at Bandon, Ore., hosted by Gonzaga.
THE COURSE – The 6,954-yard course will play at a par-72 for the event…the course runs along the Pacific Ocean, sitting on a cliff 100 feet above the beach…Bandon Dunes Golf Resort take the form of a true links course, which is ruggedly defined by its natural presence, a rare form of golf course in modern golf.
THIS TOURNAMENT – This is the 10th year of the annual Bandon Dunes Championship, and the third year the Bandon Dunes Course has hosted the tournament…the tournament rotates between the resort's four different courses each year.
LAST TIME AT THE BANDON DUNES – Last time the Cougars competed in the Bandon Dunes Championship, the team finished third with a score of 841 (-11)…then-senior
Derek Bayley (-15, 201) led the way with a second place finish…then-junior
AJ Armstrong tied for 15th after scoring a 212 (-4)…Armstrong was followed closely by then-senior
Brian Mogg (-3, 213) who tied for 20th…then-senior
Zach Anderson tied for 33rd, going even throughout the three rounds with a score of 216…then-sophomore
Daniel Kolar rounded off the team, carding a 222 (+6) and placing 62nd.
THE FIELD – Joining the Cougars in Oregon will be No. 10 SMU, No. 22 NC State, No. 33 Oregon, No. 53 Ohio State, No. 57 Oregon State, No. 59 San Jose State, No. 65 Boise State, No. 72 Utah, No. 81 UNC Wilmington, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, CSUN, USC Upstate and Utah Valley.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN – Last time the Cougars teed-off was in the Aloha State for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Lihue, Hawai'i...the Cougars finished 17th with a three round score of 878 (+14)…junior
Daniel Kolar had a strong performance on the islands, staying competitive with some of the country's top golfers in the first two rounds, tying for first in the first round and remaining in the top-15 in the second round…he finished the tournament in a tie for 48th after shooting a 218 (+2)…junior
Nicklaus Chiam, who tied for 57th, followed close behind Kolar with a three-round score of 220 (+4)…seniors
Grant Cole (+6, 222) and
AJ Armstrong (+8, 224) tied for 72nd and 79th respectively…junior
Scott Redelsperger tied 87th, carding a 227 (+11).
THE LINEUP – Representing the Cougars on the Oregon coast will be juniors

COACHES – Third-year head coach
Dustin White continues to lead the Cougars through the second leg of the 2018-19 golf season…White came back to Pullman in 2016 after golfing for the Cougars from 1999-2003 as one of the most decorated Cougars in school history…while at WSU, White earned three All-Pac-10 selections, including a first team selection in 2002…White even holds a school record for the most top-10 finishes (8), which includes a first place finish and national player of the week honors…Assisting White is first-year assistant coach
Kevin Tucker, who also golfed for the Cougars from 2006-10…Tucker is another highly regarded Washington State golfer, as he was just the second Cougar to be invited to the NCAA Regional Championship in his junior year, and went back the next year…Tucker returned to the Palouse in 2018 after spending some time on professional golf tours.
