WEEK PREVIEW
No. 25 ranked Washington State will begin the final week of the regular season with senior night, Tuesday, Nov. 26 inside Bohler Gym at 7 p.m. against No. 3 ranked Stanford. This will be the first and only regular season meeting between the Cougars and the Cardinal as well.
WSU will then travel across the state to take on rival No. 9 Washington in another installment of the Boeing Apple Cup Series, Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. inside the Alaska Airlines Arena. The Cougs took down the Huskies previously this season at home back in September in four sets also.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The week 12 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll keeps Washington State at No. 22 overall this week after defeating Colorado, and falling to No. 15 Utah at home. The Pac-12 currently has five teams ranked in the top 25 as Stanford (4), Washington (10), Utah (16), California (24), and the Cougars all represent the conference. The RichKern poll sees WSU remain at No. 19 this week, and the Pablo Rankings puts the Cougars at No. 24 overall heading into this week.
PAC-12 LEADERS
Washington State currently sees a number of student-athletes atop the Pac-12 conference in various stat categories which includes
Penny Tusa in aces (33),
Alexis Dirige in total digs (498),
Magda Jehlářová in total blocks (162.0), and Jehlářová also leads in blocks per set (1.46). The Cougars as a team lead the conference in opposing hitting percentage, limiting the opposition to just .169 overall.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 22 Washington State volleyball was defeated on the road by the Wildcats of Arizona Sunday afternoon, by a final score of 3-1. Set scores from the match were: 22-25, 25-20, 15-25 and 23-25 in favor of Arizona (15-15, 5-13 Pac-12).
Pia Timmer tied her career-high today in kills with 17 total, along with hitting .227 overall.
Hannah Pukis posted her 12th double-double of the season with 34 assists, and 12 digs.
Jocelyn Urias turned in a solid performance as she led the Cougars with six total blocks, and added five kills to her stat line as well.
