Cougars Head South for Stanford Intercollegiate

The Cougars travel south to compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University, Fri.-Sun., Oct. 11-13 in Stanford, Calif. The tournament will be played at the Stanford Golf Course as a par-71 at 6,195 yards.
 
THE FIELD
The field for the Stanford Intercollegiate includes five teams in the top 10 and 12 teams in the top 50 in this week's Golfweek rankings. Along with host Stanford (ranked #1) and WSU (63), the 17-team field includes  Arizona (10), Arizona State (5), California (74) Florida (7), Georgia (39), Iowa State (35), Northwestern (64), Oregon (14), Oregon State (15), Pepperdine (27), San Diego State (33), San Jose State (59), UC Davis (69), UCLA (32), and USC (3).
 
COACH KAMIMURA ON THE TOURNAMENT
"Stanford is a national championship field. The top teams in the country are there and we are there to compete and that is what our focus is. We will see where we stack up while leaving it all out there by focusing on what we can control."
 
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE
Representing the Cougars in Stanford will be senior Marie Lund-Hansen, sophomores Darcy Habgood and Amy Chu, junior Emily Baumgart, and freshman Jiye Ham.
 
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN
The Cougars finished fourth at the CDA Resort Collegiate Invitational led by senior Marie Lund-Hansen. After carding her first two rounds under par, Lund-Hansen finished in a tie for third with a score of 216 (+3). Sophomore Darcy Habgood battled back in the third round and shot a team low of 69 (-2). The team finished with a score of 887 (+35). Said Coach Kamimura, "That was a week where we are always looking to get better and had some growth moments that week which are good early on to set you up for the rest of the season".
 
COACHING STAFF
The team is led by 11th-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to 11 program records, a tournament title, and an individual NCAA berth in the 2017-18 season. WSU alumna Emma White (Betland) is entering her fifth season as an assistant coach. White golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
