No. 24 Cougars Return to Bohler Gym

WEEK PREVIEW
Washington State returns to Bohler Gym to defend its' home court this weekend, first with a match against the Ducks of Oregon. The Ducks hold the all-time series lead over the Cougars at 47-42, dating back to 1976 when these two programs first met. Within Bohler Gym, Oregon has been more victorious than not against WSU, as the last time the Cougars defeated the Ducks at home was in five sets back in 2005.

The second contest of the weekend will feature Washington State hosting the Beavers of Oregon State, which the Cougars hold the all-time series lead at 50-42. WSU handled Oregon State with ease a season ago inside Bohler Gym, with a 3-0 sweep in the only meeting of the year between the two. 

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Washington State remains in the top 25 in the week six American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll, ranked at No. 24 overall after going 1-1 the previous week at both UCLA and USC. The RichKern polls lines up with the AVCA this week as the Cougars check in at No. 24 as well, and the Pablo Rankings see WSU at No. 22 heading into the home matches as well. 

LEADING THE PAC-12
WSU sees a handful of Cougars at the top of the Pac-12 rankings fresh off the second week of conference action. Magda JehláÅ™ová leads numerous categories up to this point which includes solo blocks (14), total blocks (85), and blocks per set (1.55). Alexis Dirige and Penny Tusa each rank first and second respectively in total service aces as Dirige has record 22 overall, with Tusa right behind at 19.   

LAST TIME OUT
Washington State defeated the Trojans of USC in a five set thriller on the road, by a final score of 3-2. Set scores from the match were: 25-20, 25-22, 26-28, 16-25, and 15-13 in favor of WSU. The offensive attack power between Jocelyn Urias and Pia Timmer was an incredible factor in this match as Urias and Timmer each tied career-highs. Jocelyn finished the day with 18 total kills, while Pia posted 17 overall. Kalyah Williams contributed a career day as well in the win, with 12 overall kills for the Cougars. Hannah Pukis continued the trend for WSU in recording career numbers as she recorded a career-high in assists with 53 total. Pukis also posted another double-double this season, totaling 14 digs.
