Cougar Post Top 10 Finish at Stanford Intercollegiate

PULLMAN, Wash – Senior Marie Lund-Hansen fired a 2-under-par 69 to lead Washington State to a 10th-place finish in a stacked Stanford Intercollegiate field Sunday at the par-71, 6,195-yard Stanford Golf Course.

The Cougars finished the three-day event with a score of 875 (+23), 33 shots off the winning score of Arizona State. Stanford finished second with a three-round total of 847 (-5), while USC and Arizona tied for third one shot behind (-4). Stanford's Angelina Ye captured medalist honors with a three-round score of 203 (-10), three strokes ahead of Arizona's Vivian Hou.

Lund-Hansen entered the day in a tie for 47th at 6-over-par, 148, but saved her best for last. Over the final 18 holes of play, Lund-Hansen found a rhythm and fired 5 birdies on the day. That included back-to-back birdies on her final two holes to close the round at 69, the lowest round by a Cougar during the tournament. Lund-Hansen finished as the Cougars front runner with a total score of 217 (+4) while finishing tied for 26th.

Three strokes behind Lund-Hansen were sophomore Darcy Habgood and freshman Jiye Ham. Ham and Habgood concluded the event tied for 43rd, both finishing at 220 (+7). With Habgood hitting three birdies in the front nine, she ended her round with a score of 73 (+2). Ham caught fire in the back nine posting two birdies and shot a 74 (+3) for the third round. Junior Emily Baumgart shot a 76 (+5) in her third round, finishing in a tie for 55th with a final-round score of 223 (+10). Sophomore Amy Chu shot a 77 (+6) and finished tied for 65th with a score of 226 (+13).

The Cougars are back in action Monday, November 4-5 at the Pac-12 Preview in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. The tournament will be played at the Nanea Country Club.
