Gray Stands Tall Against Crimson

PULLMAN, Wash. (Sept. 20, 2019) – Washington State women's swimming held its Crimson and Gray intrasquad meet Friday at Gibb Pool and saw Team Gray post 143-95 win over Team Crimson.

Gray opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Teammate Taylor McCoy led Team Gray with three wins in the 150 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle, and 200 Individual Medley. Following close behind with two wins Sophia Balmaceda came out on top in the 150 Butterfly and the 50 Butterfly. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Chloe Larson, Sophia Balmaceda, Emily Barrier and Michee van Rooyen capped the day with a win for Team Gray.

For Team Crimson, Mackenzie Duarte recorded two wins in the 50 Breaststroke and 150 Breaststroke while fellow Crimson teammate Keiana Fountaine also recorded two wins in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.

WSU will open its 2019-20 season with a pair of home meets next week, hosting a relay meet with San Diego State, Idaho, and Nevada Friday, followed by a dual meet against Nevada Saturday.
