BANDON, Ore. – Washington State men's golf is in 17th after improving on its score form the first round by 11 strokes in the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort at Bandon, Ore.
The Cougars collectively shot a 299 (+11) Monday, bringing their total score to 619 (+43). Ohio State continues to hold first in the tournament with a two-round score of 575 (-1) as the only team under par to this point in the tournament. They are followed closely by Utah (+1, 577) in second, and the seven-way tie for third was broken and filled by Denver with a score of 579 (+3).
All ranked teams in the tournament dropped out of the top-5. No. 10 SMU (+10, 586) dropped three spots and is now in a tie for sixth. No. 19 NC State (+14, 590) managed to improve their placement by three, putting them in eighth, just one stroke ahead of No. 32 Oregon (+15, 591) in a tie for ninth.
Junior Nicklaus Chiam (+7, 152) improved on his team-leading score, knocking three strokes off his score from the first round and putting him in a tie for 61st. Just two strokes behind Chiam in junior Scott Redelsperger (+9, 153) in a tie for 67th. Junior Daniel Kolar is tied for 85th with a score of 156 (+12). Seniors Grant Cole (+14, 158), who is tied for 91st, and AJ Armstrong (+25, 169), who is in 107th, round things off for the Cougars. Sophomore Ryan Maine is in a tie for 78th shooting a 155 (+11) as an individual.
Blake Tomlinson (-5, 139) of Utah is tied for first with Esteban Missura of Denver at the end of the second round. Daniel Wetterich of Ohio State fell from first to third with a score of 140 (-4).
