WSU Academic Services Announces February Student-Athletes of the Month

Rowing's Paige Danielson and men's golf's AJ Armstrong have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for February 2019.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State rowing's Paige Danielson and men's golf's AJ Armstrong have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for February 2019.

A senior on the rowing team, Danielson (St. Cloud, Minn.) is majoring in electrical engineering and is a member of the Honors College. She carries a 4.0 grade point average and is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team, Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete, and CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. In 2018, Danielson was named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team. Danielson rows with the varsity eight crew and competed for the crew at both the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Championships, where she won the NCAA Elite 90 Award, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at each NCAA championship.

A senior on the men's golf team, Armstrong (St. Albert, Alberta) is majoring in accounting and minoring in sport management. He carries a 3.86 grade point average and was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team in both 2017 and 2018. Armstrong was also named to the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar list for his academic and athletic performance in 2018. He played in all 12 tournaments his junior year with a top finish of fifth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. Armstrong competed in all four tournaments of the fall season, finishing in the top-25 three times.

Each month Washington State Academic Services will honor a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
