WSU Academic Services Announces January Student-Athletes of the Month

Track and field's Ja'Maun Charles and women's basketball's Jovana Subasic have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for January 2019.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State track and field's Ja'Maun Charles and women's basketball's Jovana Subasic have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for January 2019.

A senior on the men's track and field team, Charles (Pleasanton, Calif.)  is majoring in management information systems and minoring in Spanish. He carries a 3.2 grade point average and is a member of the MIS Club in the Carson College of Business. He is also an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and participates in Coug Pals. On the track Charles placed third at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships in both the 100 meter and the 4x100m relay. He also received Pac-12 T&F All-Academic Second Team and USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2017. 

A junior on the women's basketball team, Subasic (Sabac, Serbia) is majoring in international business and minoring in political science. English is not her first language, and she carries a 3.99 grade point average which is the highest on the team. Subasic is a PAC counselor and the vice president of SAAC. Her passion is learning and education. On the court, she had a career high of 13 points against Oregon State Jan. 27.

Each month Washington State Academic Services will honor a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
