RECORD RUN FOR WSU
For the first time in program history the Cougars have started a season 9-0-0 breaking their record from 2015. The 2015 season was a record-breaking season for WSU as the Cougars won an all-time high 14 games and finished third in the Pac-12 in head coach
Todd Shulenberger's first year in Pullman.
In addition to the record start, the Cougars' nine-straight wins set the record for the program's longest single-season win-streak, breaking the record of seven-straight done twice prior.
WSU's longest win streak spanning multiple seasons is 10 games from Oct.14, 1990 to Sept. 11, 1991.
LATE GAME SUCCESS
A trend line for the 2018 Cougars is their resilience late in games as WSU has come up with late game-winners in six of 10 games on the year, including their exhibition win in San Diego. Against USD, WSU scored twice in the final seven minutes of the contest to win 2-1. To open the regular season it was two second-half strikes that proved the difference and three goals after falling behind 1-0 early in the game. Versus GCU, despite a massive shot differential, the Cougars lone tally of the game came in overtime. At Nebraska, the Cougars scored two second half goals to comeback from an early one goal deficit to take the victory. The team added to its lore at #8 UCLA with a game-winner in the 61'. The 70' game-winner against Oregon was the second latest winner of the season. In all, WSU has scored 11 goals after halftime.
