HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Washington State's Michaela Bayerlova had little trouble advancing to her quarterfinal match at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Hilton Head tournament Thursday at the Van Der Meet Shipyard Racquet Club.
 
Bayerlova, seeded No. 3 and ranked No. 601 in the world, cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Rushie Wijesundera in their Round of 16 match. The Cougar sophomore broke Wijesundera's serve six times while losing only one of her own, making short work of her opponent, who is ranked 1,051. Bayerlova next faces Peyton Stearns of the United State Friday in a quarterfinal match. Stearns is ranked 1,099 in the most recent ITF ranking.
 
In doubles play, Bayerlova and Rasheeda McAdoo, seeded No. 2, rallied from a set down to defeat the US duo of Allie Gretkowski and Ruth Marsh, 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 in a super tiebreaker for the third set. Bayerlova and McAdoo will face Allura and Maribella Zamarripa in the semifinals.
