BURNABY, British Columbia - Former and current Washington State rowers captured silver, bronze, and seventh place in the women's pair, as well as silver in the U23 women's pair at the 2018 Canadian National Rowing Championships, at Burnaby Lake, Nov. 8-11.

Lisa Gutfleisch all represented Washington State rowing at the championships. The championships began with a time trial with the top four teams advancing to the AB semifinals. Teams that placed fifth or lower advanced to reps, with the top two teams in the reps getting the opportunity to progress to the semifinals.
Hare partnered with Hillary Janssens to represent Alberta Rowing as the C pair. Hare and Janssens took second place in the opening time trial with a time of 7:18.361 to advance to the AB semifinals.
Roman partnered with her Canadian National teammate Kristin Bauder to represent Row Ontario as the B pair. The pair followed close behind Hare and Janssens in the trial to earn third place with a time of 7:21.773, also qualifying them for the AB semifinals.
Elling Quaintance and Gutfleisch teamed up to form the University of British Columbia C pair. The duo placed sixth in the time trial, which placed them in the second round of reps. The pair went on to win the heat with a time of 7:36.827, qualifying them for the AB semifinals against Hare and Roman.
In the second AB semifinals, Hare and Janssens took first with a time of 7:33.516. Finishing less than half a second behind were Roman and Bauder who clocked a time of 7:33.864 to place second, with both crews advancing to the A final. Elling Quaintance and Gutfleisch took fifth in the heat with a time of 7:52.481, placing them in the B final.
In the B Final, Elling Quaintance and Gutfleisch took first place with a time of 7:31.784, finishing three seconds ahead of the second place crew. The victory in the B Final earned the duo a seventh place finish overall.
In the A Final, Hare and Janssens fought a tightly contested matchup and ended up earning a silver medal by finishing with a time of 7:25.676. Roman and Bauder were right on their heels but had to settle for bronze as they put together a time of 7:31.342. The Rowing BC crew took gold in the Final by finishing the course with a time of 7:21.950.
Elling Quaintance and Gutfleisch captured the silver medal in the Under-23 division women's pair.Â
