Minshew II Named Maxwell Award National Player of the Week

Minshew II threw for 323 yards and 4 TD in the win over No. 12 Oregon.

PHILADELPHIA – Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II was named the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday. The Maxwell Award annually recognizes the College Player of the Year. Minshew II was added to the award watch list following the win over Oregon State.

Minshew II led Washington State to a 34-20 win over No. 12 Oregon last Saturday after going 39-of-51 for 323 yards and four touchdowns. The graduate transfer from Brandon, Miss. enters the week leading the country in passing yards-per-game (392.1) and fifth in the country in passing touchdowns (23).

Monday, Minshew II was named the Rose Bowl Game Pac-12 Player of the Week, one of the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 Quarterback Performances of the week and was also one of eight Manning Award "Star" quarterbacks of the week.
