Women’s Golf Heads South for Stanford Intercollegiate

The Washington State women's golf team heads to Stanford, Calif. to compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate Friday through Sunday, Oct. 19-21. The tournament is hosted by Condoleezza Rice at Stanford Golf Course.
 
THE FIELD
16 teams will join Washington State in the field, including No. 8 Arizona State, California, Denver, No. 25 Florida State, Harvard, Iowa State, No. 18 Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Oregon, No. 21 Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 USC, and No. 12 University of Washington.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE
Competing for the Cougars will be freshman Amy Chu, junior Marie Lund-Hansen, senior Madison Odiorne, redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart, and junior Elodie Bridenne.
 
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN
The Cougars placed sixth at the Ron Moore Women's Invitational. Led by the play of freshman Amy Chu, the team carded an 887(+23) through three days of play. Chu placed ninth individually after posting a 218(+2), this was Chu's first-career top-10 finish in just her third tournament. Junior Marie Lund-Hansen carded a 219(+3), tying for 13th place. Senior Madison Odiorne scored a 225(+9), redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart carded a 228(+12), and junior Elodie Bridenne scored a 231(+15). Freshman Cameron March completed her first tournament as a Cougar, carding a 244(+25).
 
COUGARS WELCOME TWO NEWCOMERS
Washington State welcomes three freshmen to the roster - Amy Chu and Cameron March. Australian native Chu has made a name for herself in the international golf world. Chu has competed all over the world, including America, Thailand, and Vietnam. She has made a name for herself in her home country as well, holding 11 championship finishes in Australian tournaments. Los Angeles, Calif. native March played four years of golf and three years of softball at Marlborough School. March earned all-League first team in golf her sophomore and junior season.
 
COACHING STAFF
The team is led by tenth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to eleven program records, a tournament title, and an individual NCAA berth in the 2017-18 season. WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach. Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
