MADISON, Wis.  -- The Washington State Cross Country programs competed in the 2018 Pre-National Meet Saturday morning at the prestigious Zimmer Championship Course.Â
WSU WOMEN
The Washington State women's program, currently ranked 14th overall in the west region, placed 26th overall in the 6k race against some of the top programs in the country.Â
The top runner for the Cougars was freshmanÂ
Emma Jenkins who finished 74th overall with a time of 21:33.2 in the race. Following Jenkins wasÂ
Kaili Keefe who posted a time of 22:04.4 for a finish of 126th overall.
Vallery Korir placed 144th (22:14.0),Â
Zorana Grujic at 152nd (22:19.6),Â
Melissa Hruska in 163rd place (22:25.4), and
Desi Stinger placed 186th overall (22:42.8) for the Cougs in the meet.Â
New Mexico finished first overall in the Pre-National White Race with 67 overall points, followed by Michigan with 120, and Stanford in third with 129 total points.Â
WSU MEN
The men's program, currently ranked No. 17 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), finished 10th overall in the 8k race.
Leading the way for the Cougars was seniorÂ
Chandler Teigen finishing 26th overall with a time of 24:16.0 during the race.
Amir Ado followed Teigen in 46th place, with a time of 24:35.8.
Paul Ryan finished 73rd overall (24:52.5),
Nathan Wadhwani in 83rd (24:24.6),
Kyler Little in 98th overall (25:04.8),
Justin Janke finished 114th (25:09.9), and
Colton Johnsen at 147th (25:34.9) each followed up for the Cougs in the race, against several of the other top ranked programs in the nation Saturday. morning, despite a slow start to the overall event after a frost delay.Â
BYU finished first overall in the Pre-National Meet White Race, with 29 total points, followed by Washington in second with 106, and Syracuse in third overall with 195 points scored.Â
