Adomaviciute Finishes Third for Lithuania at World Rowing Cup I

BELGRADE, Serbia – Former Washington State University rower, Ieva Adomaviciute (2013-15; 2017), finished third in the A Final as a member of Lithuania's women's double sculls crew, Sunday, at World Rowing Cup I held in Belgrade, Serbia.

A native of Kaunas, Lithuania, Adomaviciute teamed up with Milda Valciukaite in the women's double scull event. The duo won its heat in the opening race, June 1, moving directly to the A/B semifinal. In the first semifinal, Adomaviciute's crew finished second behind Germany with a time of o7:16.580, less than two seconds behind the Germans at 7:14.880 and three seconds ahead of third-place China. The top three advanced to Sunday's A Final.

In the A final Sunday, Lithuania faced the Netherlands, Germany, China and two Belarus crews. Adomaviciute and Valciukaite closed the gap on Germany, finishing just one second behind the German crew in a time of 6:50.950, compared to Germany's 6:49.970. Lithuania placed third and Germany second behind the Netherlands with the gold in at 6:47.690. China was fourth with a time of 6:53.550. 

Adomaviciute competed with the Cougar rowing team for four seasons, redshirting her senior season (2015-16) to train and compete with the Lithuanian national team. She is a two-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I All-American and First Team All-Region 5 honoree (2013, 2017), as well as a 2017 Pac-12 All-Conference honoree. In 2013, Adomaviciute was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year. Last year, she captured gold in the single sculls at the Under-23 World Rowing Championships. 

World Rowing Cup II will take place June 21-24 at Linz Ottensheim in Austria.
