PULLMAN, Wash. – For the second time this season, WSU freshman Michaela Bayerlova has been named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Bayerlova led the Cougars to victories against Minnesota, Seattle and Eastern Washington, winning each of her singles matches in straight sets. She also teamed with Aneta Miksovska at No. 3 doubles to win all three matches while surrendering just one game.

With the singles victories, Bayerlova improved to 16-0 as a collegian. She currently is ranked No. 34 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the highest ranking by a Cougar since the 2012 season. This season, Bayerlova is 3-0 against nationally ranked players and has lost just one set all year.

Earlier this season, Bayerlova captured her first Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after helping the Cougars to 7-0 victories against Idaho and Montana State, beginning with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Idaho's Marianna Petrei, the nation's 39th-ranked player. She is the first Cougar to receive the award twice in a season since Elisabeth Fournier accomplished the feat in 2012.

Bayerlova, who is also ranked No. 3 among freshmen/newcomers in the ITA ranking, is currently ranked No. 631 in the world after achieving a career-best 583 last July.
