CHARLESTON, S.C.--Washington State freshman Michaela Bayerlova was cruised to a straight-set victory in the second round of the ITF Charleston event at the LTP Tennis club Thursday.
Bayerlova, of Krumbach, Germany, broke serve five times en route to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Natalie Novotna of the Czech Republic. Novotna has a career high world ranking of No. 976 and is currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech, where she is ranked No. 56 in the 2017 ITA Division I Preseason poll.
Bayerlova will play her quarterfinal match against Amanda Rodgers Friday morning.
