PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State senior cheerleader, Shanelle Briggs, has been named American Cheerleader Magazine's cheerleader of the month, as she is featured on the Fall 2017 issue of the magazine, which came out this week.Briggs, a captain and three-year member of the cheer squad, is a native of Olympia, Wash. She is a pre-med and Spanish major and has studied abroad three times while a student at WSU, to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Spain.
Briggs spent her 2017 spring break near Zacapa, Guatemala as part of Hearts in Motion, a non-profit organization that teams up with colleges and universities around the country each year to provide assistance in medical and dental clinics, hospitals and orphanages. WSU contributes to Heart in Motion's mission by dedicating a large portion of time to cleft palate surgical repair for underprivileged children.
