Cougars Travel to Colorado

The WSU women's golf team will compete at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Vail, Colorado.
THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's golf team will compete at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Vail, Colorado, Sept. 26-28, at Red Sky Golf Club.
THE COURSE: Red Sky Golf Club was voted as one of Golfweek's Best Courses to Play in 2011…the three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place on the par-72, 6,261-yard Tom Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club…the tournament begins Monday at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT…the second round will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. PT…the final round will begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. PT.
THE FIELD: Competing in the 17-team field will be Campbell, Central Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, UC Davis, Idaho, Iowa, James Madison, Missouri State, New Mexico State, Old Dominion, Pepperdine, San Diego State, South Florida, TCU, Tennessee, and Toledo…New Mexico State (13th), Tennessee (23rd) and San Diego State (21st) both finished the 2016 season ranked in the top 25.
COMPETING FOR THE COUGARS: Competing for the Cougars will be juniors Bree Wanderscheid and Alivia Brown, sophomore Madison Odiorne, senior Cherokee Kim, and freshman Marie Lund-Hansen…this will be Lund-Hansen's debut for the Cougars.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: The Cougars tied for second at the WSU Cougar Cup, Sept. 19-20, at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, shooting 4-over par with an overall score of 868…Alivia Brown and Bree Wanderscheid tied for fourth shooting 1-under par (215)…Cherokee Kim placed sixth with a three-round score of 216 (E)…Madison Odiorne tied for 15th ( 6, 222)…Jamie Midkiff and Elodie Bridenne tied for 40th place ( 17, 233).
COACHING STAFF: The Cougars are led by eighth-year head coach, Kelli Kamimura, who led the Cougars to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach, who golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
