PAC-12 TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS NEXT FOR COUGARS
The Pac-12 Conference Track & Field Championships are Saturday and Sunday, May 14 & 15, at UW's Husky Track...returning Pac-12 Champion from WSU is junior CJ Allen who won the 2014 men's 400m hurdles but was injured last year and did not compete...missing champions on the women's side are heptathlete Alissa Brooks-Johnson (injury) and pole vaulter Kristine Felix (redshirt)...in 2015 the WSU women finished 5th (64 points) and WSU men finished 9th (31.5 points)...2016 Live Results can be viewed by clicking on the track schedule at www.wsucougars.com...Pac-12 TV Networks, will air tape-delayed 3-hour broadcast of the championships May 22 at 9 a.m. (Pacific Time).
WAYNE PHIPPS, DIR. OF WSU CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK & FIELD
Wayne Phipps (Univ. of British Columbia '91/Oregon '94) become the 15th coach to take the reins of the Washington State men's program and the second coach for the combined men's and women's program at WSU on July 1, 2014...Phipps had been the University of Idaho's Director and Track & Field/Cross Country from 2010 through 2014, and was a coach with the Vandals program for a total of 19 years...he served as co-head coach from 2000-09, after serving as an assistant coach from 1995-99... at Idaho, he was named conference Coach of the Year 14 times and led the Vandals to a record 16 conference titles.
COUGAR COACHING STAFF
WSU Track & Field coaching staff includes Associate Head Coaches Julie Taylor (throws), and  Yogi Teevens (sprints, relays and horizontal jumps)...Assistant Coaches are Brad Walker (vertical jumps), and Allix Potratz-Lee (distance)...Andrea Sabbatine is the Operations Coordinator...volunteeers working with the WSU track and field this year include: Jesse Jorgensen, Nigel Joseph, Hannah Kiser, Josiah Sims, Tim Taylor, and Liga Velvere.

COUGARS HIGHLIGHTS PAC-12 COMBINED EVENTS
At the Pac-12 Combined Events Championships at Husky Track in Seattle May 7-8, junior Liz Harper finished third and freshman Lindsey Schauble finished 10th in the heptathlon and Dino Dodig placed fourth in the decathlon...Harper (Missoula, Mont.) competed in only her second heptathlon tallied PRs in first day points (3495), high jump (1.81m/5-11 1/4 - 10th-best in WSU all-time records), 200m (24.61), 800m (2:14.03)...her PR total of 5,564 points is seventh-best in WSU all-time records and ranked 20th-best nationally...Schauble (Kennewick, Wash.) scored 4,626 points for 10th out of the 14 competitors...she reached PRs in the 100m hurdles (15.00), 200m (26.25), and 800m (2:25.07)...In the decathlon, Dodig (Novi Sad, Serbia) tallied 7,339 points which is 16th-best nationally... Dodig was in fourth place after his first day PR of 3,909 points...other PRs included long jump (7.09m/23-3 1/4), and the 400m (48.83)...in the final event of the two-day competition, Dodig ran the 1500m in a time of 4:28.68, just 45/100s of a second off his PR time but Oregon's Joe Delgado climbed into third place with a two-point edge over Dodig...the top 24 heptathletes and decathletes advance to the national championships and do not compete at the Preliminary Rounds.
