Women’s Golf to Compete at Pac-12 Preview

The Cougars will travel to Hawaii for the final tournament of the fall season.
THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's golf team travels to Kailua Kona, Hawaii, for the Pac-12 Preview, Oct. 24-25, at Nanea Golf Club.
THE COURSE: Nanea Golf Club is a 6,112-yard track at a par-73, and was designed by Bandon Dunes architect David McLay Kidd in 2003…the course has hosted the Pac-12 Preview the past three years…teams will play the first two rounds Monday, Oct. 24, with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. PT/7:30 a.m. HST…the final round will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. PT.
THE FIELD: Joining host-school Hawaii in the 12-team field will be Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Washington...UCLA (first), Stanford (third), USC (fifth), ASU (16th), and California (24th) are currently ranked in the top-25.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars will be sophomore Madison Odiorne, junior Alivia Brown, senior Cherokee Kim, freshman Marie Lund-Hansen, and junior Bree Wanderscheid.
LAST TIME AT THE PAC-12 PREVIEW: To conclude its 2015 fall season, the team finished seventh (+27, 903) at the Pac-12 Preview…No. 3 UCLA won the tournament with a final score of 877 (+1)…Alivia Brown tied for fourth after shooting even par for three rounds (219)…Bree Wanderscheid tied for 29th (+10, 229)…Cherokee Kim tied for 36th place (+13, 232)…Madison Odiorne finished 49th (+22, 241) competing as an individual.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU finished fourth (+27, 891) at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, Oct. 10-11, at Tacoma Country and Golf Club…Two cougars finished in the top-10 including Madison Odiorne and Alivia Brown who tied for sixth (+3, 219) and finished ninth (+4, 220), respectively…Cherokee Kim and Marie Lund-Hansen tied for 21st with a three-round score of 226 (+10)…Bree Wanderscheid tied for 55th (+19, 235)…Competing as individuals, Jamie Midkiff tied for 74th and Elodie Bridenne finished 86th.
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by eighth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach…Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
