PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University men's and women's basketball programs held practices open to the public, concluding with an autograph session, Saturday, Oct. 15 at Beasley Coliseum.
The men took to the court first with four four-minute quarters as the Crimson Team faced off against the Gray Team. Following the practice, head coach Ernie Kent said a few words, followed by the student-athletes introducing each other. The women competed against each other as well with two halves. The practice started with an introduction by head coach June Daugherty and each of the women's student-athletes getting a chance to address the crowd.
Washington State men's basketball returns three starters from the 2015-16 season, including All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, Josh Hawkinson, who led the league in rebounds per game and double-doubles, ranking in the top-12 nationally in both categories. Seven newcomers join the team that had a chance to bond this summer on an international tour of Italy where the team went 3-2 in its five games, while learning more about the country and its history.
Both teams will hold exhibition games, Sunday, Nov. 6, with the women hosting Alaska Anchorage at 2 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum, and the men hosting Carroll College at 5 p.m. The season officially begins for both teams at home Friday, Nov. 11 as the men host Montana State at 4 p.m. and the women host Loyola Marymount at 7 p.m., both games at Beasley Coliseum. The women's game is the first of four-straight home games for the team.
Season tickets, single-game tickets and mini plans are on sale for the 2016-17 men's and women's basketball seasons, while single-game tickets go on sale for men's and women's games, Monday, Oct. 17.
