Marks, Falk Lead Team Gray to Victory

SPOKANE, Wash. – Wide receiver Gabe Marks caught two touchdown passes to lead the Gray team to a 24-12 victory in Washington State's Crimson & Gray Spring Game in front of 4,129 fans at Joe Albi Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Marks finished with 11 receptions for 96 yards along with the two scores, a 10-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and another for eight yards at the end of the second quarter. Redshirt-junior quarterback Luke Falk tossed two touchdowns for the Gray team, both to Marks, completing 23-of-28 attempts for 170 yards. Also for the Gray team, redshirt-junior wideout Robert Lewis caught 11 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown.

On the ground, redshirt-freshman running back James Williams carried six times for 25 yards with a seven-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter. Redshirt-junior running back Gerard Wicks picked up 43 yards on the ground with 13 carries, while redshirt-junior running back Jamal Morrow rushed seven times for 30 yards.

Redshirt-sophomore freshman Tyler Hilinski completed 26-of-31 attempts for 223 yards and one score. Redshirt-sophomore Peyton Bender went 16-of-21 for 149 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Senior wideout River Cracraft led team Crimson with 10 receptions for 74 yards. Sophomore Tavares Martin Jr., had four receptions for 61 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown pass from Bender in the third quarter.

The Crimson defense tallied seven sacks, while team Gray notched five sacks and one interception. Redshirt-senior Parker Henry led all players with nine tackles, followed by redshirt-junior Kirkland Parker with eight tackles. Three players finished with six tackles, senior linebacker Aaron Porter, senior linebacker Paris Taylor and redshirt-junior linebacker Peyton Pelluer. Redshirt-sophomore Ngalu Tapa and redshirt-sophomore Nick Begg each recorded three sacks while sophomore Hercules Mata'afa notched two sacks. Redshirt-freshman defensive end Nnamdi Oguayo, sophomore linebacker Logan Ttago, redshirt-sophomore linebacker Greg Hoyd III and redshirt-sophomore defensive end Kingston Fernandez each logged a sack. Senior Shalom Luani recorded the game's only interception.

The Cougars will wrap up spring drills Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
