Cougars? First Spring Tournament in the Books

WSU recorded its best round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Monday.

PEORIA, Ariz. – Highlighted by sophomore Alivia Brown's top-25 finish, the Washington State women's golf team finished 15th at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Monday, at the Westbrook Village Golf Course.

In its best round of the tournament, WSU shot 5-over par (293) in the final round to bring its three-round total to 887 (+23). No. 23 Oregon (-10, 854) took home the team title after leading each round. Ohio State (-5, 859) and Kansas State (-3, 861) finished second and third, respectively.

Brown tied for 23rd at 217 (+1), only six strokes back of co-champions Emma Henrikson of San Diego State and Brooke Ferrell of Wisconsin (-5, 211). This is the sophomore's fourth top-25 finish of the season.

Senior Monica Huang, who competed as an individual, tied for 43rd (+5, 221), three strokes ahead of freshman Madison Odiorne, who tied for 56th (+8, 224).

Junior Cherokee Kim and senior Nani Yanagi tied for 63rd (+9, 225). Sophomore Bree Wanderscheid tied for 70th (+10, 226).

The Cougars will return to the green for the Bruin/Wave Invitational, Feb. 27-28, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
