Crimson Squad Wins Track & Field Intrasquad Meet

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Crimson squad won the Washington State University Track & Field program's annual intrasquad track and field meet Friday, Dec. 11, at the Indoor Practice Facility, outscoring the Gray squad 134 to 111.
The meet was scored 5-3-2-1 with a maximum of two scorers per event per team. The 60m dash and 60m hurdles races were scored on best time combined from the prelims and finals. The meet was the culmination after a fall semester of mostly physical conditioning and allowed the newcomers the opportunity to perform in the competition venue with fully automatic timing for races.
Among the highlights from meet for the Cougar women's team included junior Liz Harper (Missoula, Mont.) win in the 60m hurdles with two races below nine seconds and came back and won the 300m dash in a time of 41.01. In the sprints, Danielle Darden (junior, Aliso Viejo, Calif.) ran the 60m dash in 7.60 seconds, just above her 2015 PR time of 7.55. Senior Dominique Keel (Beaverton, Ore.) had the top time in the final of 7.63 seconds, just off her 2015 season-best time of 7.60. Alissa Brooks-Johnson (junior, Doty, Wash.) won the 600m run in a time of 1 minute, 36.04 seconds. Greer Alsop (redshirt sophomore, Invercargill, New Zealand) won both the long jump (18-feet, 3 inches) and triple jump (40-1). Senior Kristine Felix (Wailuku, Hawai'i) captured the pole vault with a leap of 13-6. Transfer Katie Wardsworth (redshirt sophomore, Spokane Valley) won the 20-pound weight throw with a heave of 50-feet even.
The Cougar men's team had some notable performances by returning vets and newcomers. CJ Allen (junior, Allyn, Wash.) took the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.23 followed closely by freshman Christapherson Grant (Lynnwood, Wash.) with a 8.31 prelim time and 8.32 final time. Allen also won the 300m dash in a time of 34.49. Ja'Maun Charles (freshman, Pleasanton, Calif.) had the fastest 60m dash time of 6.87 seconds with Ray Littles (freshman, Issaquah, Wash.) running a prelim time of 7.03. Littles won the 400m run with a time of 50.63 followed closely by freshman Will DeMaris (Snohomish, Wash.) with at time of 50.79. Austin Sodorff (senior, Woodinville, Wash.) pole vaulted 16-1. Brock Eager (sophomore, Renton, Wash.) captured the 35-pound weight throw with a heave of 61-10 while junior transfer Tyler Jackson (Richland, Wash.) won the shot put with a mark of 49-6 1/2.
The WSU teams begin the 2016 indoor track and field season Jan. 16 at the Washington Indoor Preview meet in Seattle. The following weekend, Jan. 22-23, WSU host the WSU Open in Pullman.
