During the summer of 2015, 73 freshman student-athletes began their WSU academic career earning a 3.55 GPA in the Summer Bridge program.

It is the second consecutive summer that WSU student-athletes earned a 3.55 GPA in classes associated with the Washington State University Summer Advantage program.

The program is billed by WSU as "An opportunity to adjust gradually to the new academic demands of college life."

Within the athletic department, Summer Bridge, as it is called because of what it represents: serving as a bridge from high school to college, has grown since its inception in 2001 when four student-athletes participated in two sports (men's and women's basketball).

This year, the 73 student-athletes attended a five-week term that involved academic classes and tutoring, participation in the university's orientation program, daily workouts, and hall leadership activities.
