Cougar Rowing Continues Fall Season In Canada

WSU Rowing Fall Season to Continue at the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational: The Washington State University women's rowing team will continue its fall season by traveling to Burnaby, British Columbia, to participate in the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 3…the regatta will commence at 9 a.m.


The 2015 Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational: The WSU boats will compete in the four kilometer race, open to all classes of rowers…Washington State will face crews from the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, Delta Deas Rowing Club, Everett Rowing Association, Seattle Rowing Center, South Cariboo Rowing Club, St. George's School, Thunderbird Rowing Club, Vancouver Rowing Club, Simon Fraser University Rowing Club, and the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club…the regatta features sweep and sculling rowing...racing will begin at 9 a.m...an awards ceremony will follow the completion of the final race.


Fifth Annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational: The fifth annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational, hosted by the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club, will take place on Burnaby Lake in Burnaby, British Columbia...it is a time-trial competition, in which teams will race the clock…the regatta displays one 180 degree turn in the four kilometer head race…the top six fastest finishers, men and women, in each boat class will vie for the title of Regatta Champion in a 250m sprint.

Last Week: WSU was set to begin the fall season by competing at the Head of the Pend Oreille, but the race was cancelled due to high winds.


Coaching Staff: Jane LaRiviere begins her 14th year as head coach of the WSU women's rowing program...the Cougars have raced in nine NCAA Championships under LaRiviere...she is joined by associate head coach Josh Adam, novice coach Karl Huhta and graduate assistant coach Brandon Campbell...Adam is in his sixth year after coaching his prior two years at Indiana...Huhta is in his second year with the Cougars and first as the novice coach...Campbell enters his first year as an graduate assistant coach.


Next up for the Cougars: Washington State returns to the water for fall competition, Saturday, Oct. 26 for the Head of the Spokane hosted by Gonzaga in Spokane.
