PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State swept all six singles matches in straight sets as it posted a 7-0 victory over Lewis-Clark State Friday afternoon at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
With the win the Cougars improve to 11-5 on the season while the Warriors fall to 3-9.
Then Cougars opened the afternoon by capturing the first two doubles matches for the opening point. At No. 3 Donika Bashota and Holly Monahan were off first following an 8-1 win over Deanri Human and Kianna Arthur. Elizaveta Luzina and Maria Biryukova quickly followed suit with an 8-1 win over Sagung Putri Dwinta and Stephanie Buckingham at No. 1. The No. 2 match between WSU's Lize Leenknecht and Victoria Matejevic and LCSC's duo of Bryn Oliveira and Hannah Uhlenkott was stopped with WSU leading 5-2.
In singles action, Monahan wasted no time in pushing the led to 2-0 as she defeated Arthur, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Leenknecht was next off as she posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Buckingham at No. 2.
Bashota clinched the team win for WSU with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 over Oliveira. Vasyukhina matched the score with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Human at No. 5.
Matejevic extended the lead with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Uhlenkott at No. 4 before Luzina completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1win over Dwinta at No. 1.
The Cougars are next in action Sunday at 11 a.m. when they host No. 4 USC at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
