Cougars Lose to Bulldogs

PULLMAN, Wash. – Gonzaga scored seven times over the first two innings and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Washington State in nonconference baseball, Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (16-23) scored all of their runs off Washington State (17-20) starter Scott Simon (1-3) who lasted just 1 1/3 innings. A pair of errors contributed to the Gonzaga rallies.

Will Abram (2-1) limited the Cougars to five hits over seven innings to earn the victory. He allowed both runs, one earned.

In the third, Washington State scored on a double by Trace Tam Sing and a single by Ian Sagdal. In the sixth, Michael Monda singled and went to second on an error. Nick Tanielu plated Monda with a two-out single.

The Cougars head to Seattle to take on arch-rival Washington, for a three-game Pac-12 series. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Washington State Head Coach Donnie Marbut was issued a six-game suspension by the Pac-12 following his ejection, Friday, April 18 against Oregon. He has missed two games and will not be in the dugout for the series with the Huskies.
