Box Score

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Washington State volleyball team (6-14 overall, 0-10 Pac-10) lost in three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-15, to No. 8 USC (18-3, 7-3) Friday night at the Galen Center.

Senior Brittany Tillman led the Cougars with six kills and contributed two blocks. Conley Kipp had four blocks while Meagan Ganzer had five kills and three blocks. Oceana Bush tallied 10 digs while Sara Biondi had 17 assists. Ganzer, Biondi and Kaleinani Kabalis each had one ace.

USC's Alex Jupiter led the match with 12 kills and hit .318. Alexis Olgard added seven kills and hit .700 and Lauren Williams had seven kills and hit .600 and led the team with four blocks. Natalie Hagglund had a match-high 13 digs. Kendall Bateman had 38 assists as the Trojans hit .373 for the match and held WSU to .023 hitting percentage.

In the first set, USC jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back, extending the lead to eight points, winning 25-14. The Women of Troy started the second set with a 7-0 run, going on to win 25-16. WSU took the lead in the third set, 6-3, but lost in a score of 25-15.

"I thought this was one of Meagan Ganzer's better games, even though she hit -.114," Cougar Head Coach Andrew Palileo said. "I thought her overall play and the types of swings she was making, knowing everyone was keying in on her, I thought she had a really good game. Brittany Tillman had some nice option sets and kills so that was good for her. Oceana was the only one passing consistently for us tonight. We need to continue to keep battling, practice hard and play hard and continue to get better. I think our effort has to be a lot better and as coaches we have to figure out a way to get that out of them."

Washington State volleyball plays No. 11 UCLA (16-5, 6-4) Sunday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins were 3-2 winners over No. 7 Washington Friday night.
