LAREDO, Texas - Led by redshirt sophomore Kevin Tucker's top 25 finish, the Washington State men's golf team finished in 10th place at the Border Olympics, Saturday. The Cougar men shot 898 (+34) at the three-round event hosted by Houston at the par-72, 7,125-yard Laredo Country Club.
Tucker finished tied for 18th with a 5-over par 221, claiming his fourth top 25 finish of the season and the sixth of his career. Tucker was one of only 10 players in the field to post a sub-par opening round (71, -1), and his second-round 2-under 70 matched his lowest round of the season.
Finishing just two strokes back of the top 25 was freshman Nick Ellis. Ellis finished tied for 29th with a three-round total of 224 (+8). Senior Jordan Mason (227, +11), sophomore Nick Grigsby (232, +16) and redshirt freshman Xavier Dailly (238, +22) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars.
WSU continues its season March 24-25 at the Duck Invitational at Eugene, Ore.
