WSU (5-0 overall) was in control from the beginning after sweeping the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Then they won all six singles matches to finish off their fifth straight victory.
Senior Ekaterina Burduli and her doubles partner Ekaterina Kamendova defeated Air Force's Erika Shortridge and Meghan Kiser 8-2, while Aleksandra Cekic and Aleksandra Stefanova downed Christine Abayan and Erlyn Rudico 8-6 at No. 2. Marina Nicolas and Bianca Selaru finished off the sweep with a 8-6 win over Lauren Wilson and Samantha Sarkis at No. 3.
In singles play, freshman Ekaterina Kamendova continued her dominance at No. 2 as she defeated Lauren Wilson, 7-5, 6-2. Fellow freshman Jessica Gomez picked up a win as she downed Sarah Cassman, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6. At No. 4, junior Aleksandra Cekic took care of Christen Monreal, 6-0, 6-0 while Bianca Selaru defeated Erika Shortridge, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. After the match was already decided, freshman Marina Nicolas added another victory as she posted a 6-2, 1-6, (10-4), win over Katrina Eromin at No. 5.
Senior Ekaterina Burduli continued her tough play as she picked up her 79 career victory which ties her for second all time on the WSU all-time list when she downed Air Force's Christine Abayan, 6-1, 6-4.
The Cougars return to action when they face Denver, Sunday, Feb. 3 at Colorado Springs, Colo.
