PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State junior Katie Appleton and freshman Jasmine Williams each scored in double figures against Texas Tech Saturday, but the Lady Raiders were victorious 89-45 at Friel Court. The loss dropped the Cougars to 2-5, while Texas Tech improved to a perfect 9-0.

Appleton's 15 points were a team high, marking the third time this season the 5-foot-8 guard has led the Cougars in scoring. Williams' 10 points, highlighted by her first two career 3-pointers, marked the first career double-digit game for the 5-9 guard.

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 16-0 lead and held on to the lead for the game's entirety. However, once WSU made its first field goal at the 11-minute, 38-second mark, the Cougars were able to match the Lady Raiders' scoring output for the next six and a half minutes. Texas Tech then closed the first half on a 10-5 run and held on for the win.

"We struggled out of the gate, but not necessarily execution-wise," Head Coach June Daugherty said. "I thought we executed very well. Unfortunately our shots just didn't fall."

The Cougars continue their season Dec. 9 against Boise State in a double-header with the men. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Friel Court, with the men's game against Portland State to follow.
