CHENEY, Wash. -- Washington State sophomore La Shawnda Porter won two events as the Cougars captured 13 wins Friday afternoon and evening at the 37th Annual Pelluer Invitational Track & Field Meet at Woodward Field on the campus of Eastern Washington University.
La Shawnda Porter (Renton, Wash.) won both women's sprint races, clocking a season-best times of 12.15 seconds in the 100m and 24.64 seconds in the 200m dash.
Others winning events for the Cougar women were Karen DeMartini (1500m - PR 4:47.00), Catie Schuetzle (long jump - 18-9), Sarah Burns (triple jump - 38-4 3/4), McKinnon Hanson (high jump - 5-7), Jessica Zita (shot put - 45-10 1/2), and the 4x100m relay team of Nicole Hatcher, Kameko Wilson, Catie Schuetzle and Sarah Burns (46.84 seconds).
WSU volunteer assistant coach Andrea Thornton won the women's discus with a throw of 163-1 (49.72m)
Cougar men winning events Friday night included Josh Leyk (400m hurdles - 53.66), D.J. Brown (pole vault - 14-9 1/2), and Moreno Zapata (triple jump - 48-2).
Competing unattached, WSU freshman Reny Follett won the 400m dash (48.56), and redshirt freshman Cameron Schwisow won the javelin with a PR of 202-1 (61.60m).
