Seattle, Wash. – Evans Kurui just misses out on the Men's 3k title as the Cougs have another day of success at the UW Preview. Rosemary Longisa also got herself a spot on the podium in the Women's 1000-meter race. 14 Cougs set personal best times at Dempsey Indoor today.
Nicole Bissell started the morning off with a personal best run in the Women's mile, finishing in 16th with a time of 4 minutes and 43.73 seconds. Daphne Evenson also set a personal best in the race, finishing in 22nd with a time of 4 minutes and 58.29 seconds.
In the Men's Mile, Grayson Wilcott was the highest Coug finisher, finishing in 27th with a time of 4 minutes and 16.09 seconds. Ferran Verges and Micaiah Aden set personal bests in the race, finishing in 30th and 44th, respectively.
Kade Brownell and Ricard Verges added to their personal record sheet by setting times good enough to finish in the top 20.
Rosemary Longisa finished on the podium and set a personal best in the Women's 1000-meter race, finishing with a time of 2 minutes and 38.26 seconds. Lily Herman and Isabela Alvarado also set personal bests in the race.
Five of the six runners in the Women's 3000 set personal bests in the race, with Freshman Brenda Kibor the best out of the Cougs. The Cossey sisters impressed in the first races of their collegiate career, finishing in 24th and 25th.
The Cougars wrapped up their weekend at the UW Preview with their most intense race of the day. Evans Kurui was 2 hundredths of a second from winning the 3000-meter race, finishing with a time of 7 minutes and 51.44 seconds.
The Cougs will continue their season next weekend at the McCluskey Memorial Open in Moscow, Idaho.
