Biography

WSU CAREER: In the fall of her JUNIOR (2018-19) year, teamed up with Linnea Davison to finish 10th at the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational…in the spring, rowed with the third varsity eight, and second varsity eight crews…was a part of the second varsity eight crew that placed fifth at the Pac-12 Championships…named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention…as a SOPHOMORE (2017-18), with the varsity four, winning their preliminary heat of the San Diego Crew Classic, advancing them to the A Final where they placed fourth ahead of UCLA and USC respectively…helped the Cougar’s ninth-straight win against Oregon State for the Winchell Cup by taking first place out of the varsity four boat…at the Clemson Invitational, the varsity four raced the same teams as the varsity eight and second varsity eight placing third advancing them to the finals where they took second, helping WSU finish sixth overall…rowed with the varsity four at the Pac-12 Championships and took fourth…named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention…as a FRESHMAN (2016-17), seated at bow to help lead the varsity four to a first place finish in the ‘B’ Final at the Clemson Invite, crew placed eighth overall with the team taking fourth…her varsity four crew fought to a sixth place finish at the Pac-12 Championships, team finished in the top-four for the third-straight year…competed with the varsity four at the NCAA Championships, crew placed third in the ‘C’ Final to finish 15th overall, team took 14th.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned two varsity letters in rowing, and one in weightlifting at Winter Park High School at Orlando, Fla…as a senior, made it to the Florida State Rowing Championship with her women’s varsity eight, and earned a first-place finish…at the same Championship as a junior, also placed first with the varsity eight…finished fourth with the varsity eight at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Championships…as a sophomore, finished second with the second varsity eight at the Florida State Rowing Championship…also competed with her school’s rowing team as a freshman…was involved in Key Club, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Science Olympiad, where she placed fourth in Biology in the Florida Central division.
 
PERSONAL: Born Sue Ok Yu, December of 1997 at Orlando, Fla…father Young, is a professor in South Korea and mother Ho-Jeong is a cellist…brother Ju-Young…enjoys making origami and playing the piano…intends to pursue a degree in computational neuroscience.
