Biography

CAREER – Ranks on WSU’s all-time list for free throw percentage (fourth – .829, 151-185), 3-point field goals (ninth – 166), points (14th – 1349), field goals (15th – 463) and blocked shots (seventh – 70). 

SENIOR (2018-19) – Played 27 of WSU’s 32 games with 26 starts…missed five games due to injury…led WSU, the Pac-12 and ranked 24th in the nation with 21.6 points per game…added a team-best and Pac-12 ninth best 7.2 rebounds per game…notched seven double-doubles on the season, scored in double figures 25 of 27 games and reached the 20-point plateau 15 times, including five of 30 or more…his .493 (201-for-308) field goal percentage ranked 14th in the Pac-12 and his .848 (106-for-125) free throw percentage led the league…also ranked third in the conference with 2.8 made 3-pointers per game and eighth with a .399 (75-for-188) 3-point field goal percentage…named Pac-12 First Team All-Conference, becoming the first Cougar on the first team since 2015…also named to the USBA District IX and NABC District 20 teams…started the season with back-to-back games of 31 and 30 points against Nicholls State (Nov. 11) and Cal Poly (Nov. 19), respectively…scored at least 22 points in eight of his first 10 games of the season (missed WSU’s game at Seattle U, Nov. 14 due to injury)…set a career high with 13 rebounds along with 17 points at New Mexico State (Dec. 1)…had back-to-back games with 12 rebounds in wins over Rider (Dec. 17) and SIUE (Dec. 19)…returned from another injury Jan. 17 with 24 points in a win over California…had a career-night in WSU’s upset win at Arizona State (Feb. 7), tying his career highs with 34 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocked shots, along with a career-high 4 steals…followed it up with 31 points and 8 rebounds at Arizona (Feb. 9), marking WSU’s first sweep at the desert since 2006…following the weekend in Arizona, was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week (Feb. 11), as well as the Citizen Naismith and Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week…closed out the regular season with a career-high 37 points on 10-for-19 from the field and 8-for-13 from 3-point range against Oregon State (March 9) on ‘Senior Day’…the 37 points tied for the most by a Pac-12 student-athlete during the season…ranks on WSU’s single-season list for points (eighth – 583), scoring average (t-fourth – 21.6) and free throw percentage (ninth – .848, 105-123).  

JUNIOR (2017-18) – Played  in 30 of 31 games for the Cougars, having missed the Feb. 11 game at Oregon with a sore knee…led WSU and ranked seventh in the Pac-12 with 17.4 points per game (142nd nationally), and had a WSU second-best and Pac-12 15th-best with 6.6 rebounds per game…his .476 (175-for-368) field goal percentage ranked 14th in the Pac-12 and 151st nationally, while he was fourth-best with a .854 free throw mark (105-for-123), ranking 59th in the nation…also ranked in the Pac-12 for 3-pointers made (ninth, 2.2 3pg), 3-point field goal percentage (10th, .405 – 66-for-163) and blocked shots (12th, 1.0 bpg)…named the 2018 Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year and All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention at conclusion of season…scored 25 points in two of WSU’s first three games of the season (Texas Southern, Nov. 12 and Idaho State, Nov. 18), coming just shy of WSU’s second triple double having added 9 rebounds and a career-high 8 assists…went on to score double figures in the next eight Cougar games, including an average of 18.7 ppg in the three games of the Wooden Legacy (Nov. 23-26) as Washington State took home the tournament championship and he was named to the all-tournament team…had second of three double-doubles on the season with a then-career-high 28 points against Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 22)…scored a career-high 34 points against California (Jan. 13) as he set the WSU record for 3-pointers in a game, going 10-for-13 from 3-point range…the previous record was 9 set by four different Cougars…scored in double figures in 11 of the final 12 games he played in…led WSU in scoring 14 times with nine 20-plus point games and two 30-plus games…ranks on WSU’s single-season list for free throw percentage (ninth – .854)…ranks on WSU’s junior single-season list for free throw percentage (third – .854) points (fourth – 521), field goals (seventh – 175), 3-point field goals (t-eighth – 66), 3-point field goal attempts (seventh – 163), 3-point field goal percentage (t-ninth – .405) and blocked shots (t-10th – 29)…declared for the NBA Draft following the season.       

SOPHOMORE (2016-17) – Played in all 31 games for the Cougars…averaged 16.4 minutes, 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game…scored a career-high 20 points at USC (March 1), shooting 8-for-13 (.615) from the field…his field goals made and field goal attempts were also career highs…notched 7 double-digit scoring outputs, while leading WSU in scoring 3 times…secured a career-high 7 rebounds twice, against Oregon State (Jan. 4) and at home against Washington (Feb. 26)…played a career-high 29 minutes three times, against New Orleans (Dec. 3), versus Colorado (Jan. 21) and at USC (March 1)…tallied a career-high 4 assists against Montana (Nov. 19) and career-high 4 blocks at home against Colorado (Jan. 21).

FRESHMAN (2015-16) – Played 23 games for the Cougars…averaged 8.3 minutes per game, 2.2 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.4 assists...after minimal action throughout the season, had a breakout game with a career-high 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field at Arizona State (Jan. 14)…his field goals made were also a career high…followed that game up with 8 and 9 points at Arizona (Jan. 16) and at home against Utah (Jan. 21), respectively…came one-point shy of his career high with 10 points in a career-high 24 minutes at Utah (Feb. 14)…set career highs going 7-for-7 from the free throw line in that game.

HIGH SCHOOL – Earned three varsity letters while competing for coach Brian Witherspoon at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Wash…captained the team his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons…named first-team all-league as a SOPHOMORE after starting every game…named to The Seattle Times’ Top-25 Boys Recruits list and an Associated Press All-State honorable mention as a JUNIOR…averaged 19 points and eight rebounds his junior year…rated three stars by Rivals.com…as a SENIOR was once again named AP All-State honorable mention, as well as first team All-Region by The Columbian...was a McDonald’s All-American Game nominee from the state of Washington…played AAU basketball for the Northwest Panthers out of Tacoma, Wash., under head coach Garry Ward. 

PERSONAL – Born Robert Christopher Franks, Jr., December of 1996, in Seattle, Wash…father Robert Franks and mother Shannon Palmer…older sister Razzhance and younger sister Razinique…hobbies include playing basketball and video games…majoring in humanities at Washington State.
