Earlier this month, Thompson watched his alma mater defeat California, 69-66. In the 10 games played since watching the Cougs, Thompson has averaged 27.4 points a game.
In 2013, Thompson sat down for a Q & A and talked about his time at WSU. He shared his thoughts on playing in front of a packed Beasley Coliseum.
"It’s the best student body in the conference. You feed off that crowd. It’s so much fun playing in front of them. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We have some amazing fans. I really loved it."

Thompson also talked about how WSU shaped him.
"I’ve learned to appreciate Pullman. When you leave and go to all these big cities, you appreciate having that peace and quiet. You appreciate the fans, you appreciate the community. I picked the perfect school that suited me. I really love it out there. I understand why people say that Pullman grows on you. It really grew on me. I love coming back to visit."
The interview ended with Thompson explaining what it means to be a Coug.
"It’s like family, being a Cougar is like being in a family. Everyone is so friendly. There are Cougs all over the country. Every time I play in a different arena I see a Coug. It’s pretty special."
Go Cougs!
