LAS VEGAS (April 17, 2026) – Washington State starter Nick Lewis worked seven innings and six Cougar hitters drove in runs in a 13-2 victory over UNLV in Las Vegas Friday evening.

Lewis struck out a career-high nine and allowed just one earned run on six hits to improve to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Ollie Obenour had three hits while Gavin Roy, Ryan Skjonsby and Kyler Northrop each recorded two hits, doubled and drove in two.

WSU improved to 20-17 overall and 8-5 in conference play while recording their 11^th road win of the season. UNLV dropped to 22-16 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

The Cougars scored four times in the second before building an 8-1 lead with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. WSU pulled away with five in the eighth and won via run-rule in eight innings. The Cougars recorded 11 hits, drew nine walks, three were hit by a pitch and both Mason Pirello and Max Hartman stole two bases.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU worked three walks to load the bases in the second inning before Northrop bounced a two-run double down the third base line before Roy pulled an RBI-single through the left side and Max Hartman drove in another run with fielders-choice groundout.

The Cougars scored in three straight innings beginning with two in the fourth highlighted by Roy's RBI-double down the left field line, Trevor Smith followed with an RBI-single in the fifth and Skjonsby doubled home a run in the sixth.

Lewis worked with little stress throughout the game, allowing just at third-inning RBI-single before posting four straight scoreless frames to close his night.

WSU put the game out of reach with five runs in the eighth on an RBI-groundout, an RBI-single from Obenour, a pair of run-scoring wild pitches along with an RBI-sacrifice fly from Smith.
