JUNIOR (2015-16) – Played in 25 games for the Cougars…averaged 12.6 minutes, 5.4 points, 1.0 assists, and 1.9 rebounds…started out the season scoring in double figures in the first three games including 11 points in the season opener against Northern Arizona (Nov. 13)…added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in that game…in the second game of the season against Idaho State (Nov. 20), had 10 points and a career-high 6 rebounds…tied his then career high of 11 points at Idaho (Dec. 10), making a career-high 3 3-pointers while dishing out a career-high 4 assists…had the first of two-straight double-figure scoring games against then-No. 25 UCLA (Jan. 3), scoring a career-high 14 points in just 16 minutes in WSU’s upset win…scored 10 points in the next game, an overtime loss to Washington (Jan. 9).
GILLETTE COLLEGE – Played two seasons at Gillette College in Gillette, Wyo., under coach Scott Neary…averaged 14.2 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting .386 from 3-point range in 33 games as a FRESHMAN…was named second-team all-region…as a SOPHOMORE, led Gillette to JUCO Nationals, averaging 13.5 points while making a team-high 89 3-pointers in 35 games (2.5 3-pointers per game)…served as team captain and once again was named second-team all-region.
HIGH SCHOOL – Earned four varsity letters while competing for coach Scott Swanson at Woodbury High School in Minnetonka, Minn… started on the varsity team his FRESHMAN year… captained and led the team to State his JUNIOR year…captained the team and named SEC Player of the Year in conference his SENIOR year…named Upcoming Player of the Year in 2012.
PERSONAL – Born Renard A. Suggs, February of 1995, in St. Paul, Minn…father Rickey and mother Starr…father was a Mr. Basketball runner-up for the state of Minnesota in in 1980…went on to play football at Nebraska-Omaha and later for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League alongside Warren Moon…brother Rickey played basketball with Renard at Gillette College…sisters Raena and Angie…cousin Terrell Suggs played football at Arizona State and current plays in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens…hobbies include watching movies, going on walks, and hanging out with friends…planning on majoring in sport management.
