SOPHOMORE (2015-16) – Played in 29 games for the Cougars, including 5 starts…averaged 12.0 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 rebounds…fourth on the team with 42 total assists…started the season opener against Northern Arizona (Nov. 13) and had 5 points while dishing out 5 assists…tied his career high with 2 steals against Gonzaga (Dec. 2) and one game later against Portland State (Dec. 6)…had season and Pac-12 highs with 4 rebounds twice, first at USC (Jan. 28)…also had 4 rebounds along with a season-high 7 points in a season and Pac-12 high 33 minutes in WSU’s double-overtime loss at Colorado (Feb. 11)…was 3-for-4 from the field in that game, including converting on his only 3-point attempt…named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team with a 3.19 grade point average.
FRESHMAN (2014-15) – Played in all 31 games for the Cougars, notching 17 starts…averaged 19.4 minutes, 4.1 points, 3.3 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.5 steals…had 3 double-figure scoring games…was second on the team with 3.3 assists per game and 101 total assists, ranking 13th in the Pac-12 and 250th in the nation…his 1.8 assist/turnover ratio ranked sixth in the Pac-12 and 152nd in the nation, as well as led the team…had a career-high 8 assists against Rice in the second game of the Great Alaska Shootout (Nov. 28)…followed that up with a career-high of 11 points against Missouri State in WSU’s third game of the tournament (Nov. 29)…added a career-high of 2 3-point field goals made in that game…tallied 5 rebounds and1 block against Santa Clara (Dec. 13)…tied his career-high of 2 steals against Stanford, and made 5 free throws (Jan. 15) in his first career Pac-12 game…set a WSU freshman record for free throw percentage with a .803 clip (49-for-61)…ranks on WSU’s freshman single-season list for assists (third – 101) and free throws made (ninth – 49).
HIGH SCHOOL – Earned three varsity letters for basketball at Solon High School in Ohio, before playing his final season at Westwind Prep in Phoenix, Ariz…served as team captain sophomore through senior years…was named All-Northeast Ohio honorable mention as a SOPHOMORE…as a JUNIOR was named all-conference and team MVP…as a SENIOR averaged 29.8 points, 2.1 steals and 8.7 assists per game, while shooting 53 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line at Westwind…was named first team all-State, State championship MVP and defensive player of the year as team won State championship…compiled five 40-point games, breaking former Westwind standout and current Cougar, Que Johnson’s record of 40-point games.
PERSONAL – Born Nyaires Tyree Redding, March of 1996 in Cleveland, Ohio…stepfather Jermaine Kimbrough played basketball at Virginia Tech and is a basketball coach at Cleveland State…mother Tameka Kimbrough is a child support enforcement agent…two younger brothers, Asa Williams and Jace Kimbrough…younger sister Karis Kimbrough…cousin Special Jennings played basketball at Xavier from 2008-11, helping lead her team to the NCAA Tournament her final three seasons…cousin Raina Spencer played basketball at Fordham and Eastern Michigan…was a SADD club officer in high school and named to the conference all-academic team…majoring in political science, pre-law, at WSU.
