Harrison, Helm Notch Wins as Cougars Beat Weber State in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. (February 9, 2026) – Washington State Women's Golf won the opening round of the Mountain Classic Matchplay at The Classic Club via tiebreaker Monday afternoon.

Hannah Harrison and Kaitlyn Helm picked up wins and Anya Cedo tied her match, and the Cougar earned the win over Weber State after Harrison won her match by the larger margin, 6&5. Grace Rubelsky and Agnes Brink lost a pair of close matches, both coming down to the final hole.

Sara Pineros, competing as an individual, won her match 3&2 over a Gonzaga single.

Tuesday's semifinal round will see WSU face Montana State and Utah Valley face Nevada.

 The Course and Tournament Format
The Mountain Classic Match Play is played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
Â
The course plays as a par-72 at 6,119 yards.
Each golfer will have a head-to-head match against an opposing team's golfer each round. Lineups will be selected by head coaches before each match.
Matches will play out through 18 holes, if needed, with no time limit. No extra holes will be played and half points will be awarded if the matches end in a tie. If the team matches end in a tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by the largest margin of victory for all matches combined.
