Johansson’s Ace Paces Cougs in Opening Rounds in New Mexico

PULLMAN, Wash. (September 8, 2025) – Washington State Women's Golf junior Alice Johansson recorded a hole-in-one and finished Monday's opening rounds tied for seventh at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.
Johansson, who earned All-West Coast Conference honors after winning a pair of tournaments last season, aced the 150-yard par 3 while carding a front-nine two-under 34 and finished with an opening round 73. The junior from Bollnäs, Sweden followed with four birdies in the second round while finishing with a 72 to sit tied for seventh at one-over, one stroke back from fifth place and six back from the lead.
Sophomore Agnes Brink tallied three birdies throughout the day to sit tied for 30th at plus-five. Sophomore Grace Rubelsky is tied for 60th, freshman Kaitlyn Helm tied for 63rd and senior Hannah Harrison closed her day with a second-round 77.
The Cougars finished Monday tied for tenth out of 15 competing teams, one back of BYU in ninth and two strokes back of eight-place UNLV. Sacramento State leads the way at one-under.
The Course and Tournament Format
The tournament is held at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
The course plays as a par-72 at 6,354 yards.
Teams will play 18 holes Tuesday.
