Cougars Open McCluskey Memorial Open with Two Event Wins

MOSCOW, Idaho. — Washington State Track and Field continued its early indoor season at the 2025 Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open Friday at the Kibbie Dome. Caden Hottman and Gavin Dimick each won their respective events while Cougar athletes set 10 personal best performances to go along with four season-best performances to highlight the first day.

Hottman won the men's weight throw, achieving a personal best throw of 18.56 meters. This is the second weekend in a row where Hottman recorded personal best throws, doing so last weekend at the Spokane Sports Showcase. His throw was more than 0.4 meters better than the second-place finisher.

In the men's pole vault, Dimick took home the title with a height of 4.90 meters. Seth Nelson also put up a strong performance tonight finishing tied for third with a height of 4.75 meters.

In the women's 3000-meter race, all four Cougar women put up personal best times. Lauren Hoyt, Maya Nichols and Jaylyn Lehner went fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively with Evelina Sitnika rounding out the top 10 in ninth.
